Why are we so fond of door handles?″ Christof Ingenhoven and his design team mused.
The answer is: “because they are the point of contact between our hands and our buildings.” The closer any part of a building gets to us, the more carefully it must be designed.
Ingenhoven: “With the re-emergence of big, heavy doors, we wanted to deliver a powerful handle with which to open and shut them. We are not in favour of one-off solutions and therefore made a point of developing a product range for complex structures. Taking a neutral, inconspicuous model as our point of departure, we have extended the handle family by developing products for special applications equipped with additional optical and haptic features on their lateral surfaces.”
The work of Christoph Ingenhoven and his designer team has got “21st century” written all over it. This is partly due to their having opted for AluGrey, a new material introduced just recently by FSB.
In our constant search for new materials, we had already come across AluGrey back in the mid-1980s. We were excited by the hardness of its surface, its crystalline texture and its gracious neutrality.
FSB is highly gratified to have secured the collaboration of the Düsseldorf architect Christoph Ingenhoven as a design coach for the propagation of AluGrey.
