From concept to material, FSB is committed to building responsibly. With Cradle to Cradle Certified® (Version 4.1, Bronze) now awarded to our Stainless Steel lines FSB 1076 and FSB 1016, we are the first manufacturer in our sector to offer truly circular-design hardware. Our fittings unite enduring quality with a sustainable production ethos.
Cradle to Cradle is more than a certificate. It signals a product philosophy in which materials are conceived to fully reenter technical or biological cycles. That means maximum transparency, certainty, and environmental integrity.
The certification is built on five core principles:
Material Health: Every component is documented and assessed.
Circularity: Materials can be cleanly separated and reused.
Climate Protection: Manufacturing increasingly relies on renewable energy.
Water & Soil Stewardship: Resources are managed responsibly and kept clean.
Social Responsibility: People and ecosystems are central to every decision.
Sustainability Starts with the Material
To us, Stainless Steel is more than durability. It is naturally corrosion-resistant, fully recyclable, and needs no coatings or paints. Paired with thoughtful design, our products endure for decades, both in aesthetics and function. The Cradle to Cradle certification now validates this commitment at the ecological level.
“Sustainability has never been a trend for FSB, it has been part of our identity for decades. With the Cradle to Cradle certification of our Stainless Steel family, we underscore that FSB doesn’t just design products, we live values. As the first fitting manufacturer worldwide to hold a Cradle to Cradle certificate, we prove that FSB unites design and quality with genuine future viability.”
No door handle has been copied more often than Robert Mallet‑Stevens’ mitered handle design from the 1920s, later adopted by architect O. M. Ungers in his Frankfurt buildings and continued by FSB as model 1076 in Stainless Steel. In the 1980s, FSB set a benchmark for clarity and uncompromising design, especially in Frankfurt's banking district. Today, FSB 1076 is not only a design icon but now also a sustainable frontrunner. The emergency-exit variant FSB 1016 shares the same design language with equal ecological responsibility.
For Those Who Build Tomorrow Today
With Cradle to Cradle certification of our Stainless Steel models, FSB takes a decisive step toward sustainable architecture. Planners, architects, and clients receive a product that not only excels in design, but also sets ecological standards for buildings that embrace responsibility down to the last detail.
