FSB now offers its entire product portfolio in the new, even more sustainable Aluminum Pure finish.
In 2024, FSB introduced Aluminum Pure as a resource-efficient surface option for three models: FSB 1267, FSB 1289, and FSB 1292. Following a successful launch, strong demand, and consistently positive feedback, we’re pleased to expand the Aluminum Pure finish (FSB 0013) to all product families and select accessories, excluding only sliding door pulls.
The building sector accounts for 40% of global CO₂ emissions. While we don’t pour concrete, as a metal-processing manufacturer, we’re committed to doing our part: Aluminum Pure consumes up to 37% less energy in production than conventional finishes and looks stunning doing it.
During a multi-hour process known as vibratory finishing, the surface of the aluminum is shaped by ceramic polishing stones, leaving behind an organic texture. The result: a raw yet refined surface that skips the final steps typical of aluminum production—no polishing, no anodizing, no powder coating.
Door and window hardware in Aluminum Pure is an ideal match for modern interiors particularly alongside raw concrete and natural wood. Like our signature bronze products, Aluminum Pure evolves over time: with no protective anodized layer, the surface gradually develops a subtle patina in areas of frequent touch. Architects already familiar with this transformation from our bronze hardware will recognize the charm.
As one of the lightest metals, aluminum feels naturally comfortable in the hand thanks to its ability to adapt to ambient temperatures. Aluminum Pure enhances this quality with a soft, tactile feel without generating any surface abrasion.
From Bauhaus originals by Wilhelm Wagenfeld and Walter Gropius to Jasper Morrison’s “Super Normal” FSB 1144 and David Chipperfield’s iconic FSB 1004, the most celebrated designs by FSB are now available in a finish that’s not only visually honest but also more energy efficient. With the expansion of Aluminum Pure across the full product range, FSB continues the legacy of architectural classics while setting a new benchmark for environmental responsibility.
For over 100 years, FSB has been producing door and window handles exclusively made in Germany. In Brakel, East Westphalia, FSB makes partly-handcrafted, end-to-end products in a variety of materials and surfaces for all areas of application. Committed to the tradition of redesign, FSB has adapted modern classics by Gropius, Wagenfeld and Mies van der Rohe to today's parameters and also supplies numerous designs by renowned contemporary architects. FSB wholeheartedly commits to sustainability by embracing innovation, as most recently demonstrated by its resource-conscious finish Aluminum Pure.
