The Nordkopf Tower rises 50 meters above Wolfsburg’s central station, redefining the city’s skyline with bold urban presence. Designed by Schulz und Schulz Architekten, the mixed-use high-rise—completed in 2022—combines offices, restaurants, and hotel use in a compact, efficient volume. Its crystalline geometry reflects the architectural clarity for which the Leipzig-based firm is known.

“The building is shaped by its context—its height responds to the train station, the city center, and the neighboring park. But the façade makes it unmistakably its own.”
Set at the intersection of rail, street, and park, the Nordkopf Tower forms a hinge between mobility and culture. Its triangular floor plan maximizes exposure to daylight and views, while minimizing structural depth. The building’s massing is both precise and sculptural, tapering toward the top to reduce its perceived scale.
The façade is composed of large-scale, floor-spanning glazing set into vertical aluminum profiles. These curtain-wall elements are articulated with faceted angles, giving the tower a crystalline presence. Depending on the time of day, the surface alternates between transparency and reflection—projecting the city back onto itself.
The interior continues the architectural precision of the exterior: clear lines, robust materials, and restrained colors define the common areas. Circulation cores are placed efficiently to allow flexible layouts on the office floors. On the upper levels, a hotel and sky bar offer panoramic views over Wolfsburg and the surrounding landscape.
The building meets high environmental standards, with triple-glazed façades, energy-efficient mechanical systems, and a rooftop photovoltaic array. Together with its strategic location, these qualities make the Nordkopf Tower a new anchor in Wolfsburg’s evolving cityscape.
For Schulz und Schulz, material honesty and precision detailing are paramount. Their choice of FSB 1232 reflects this ethos. The lever’s sharp geometry and clean break between stem and grip mirror the tower’s tectonic logic. Executed in brushed stainless steel, the handle balances visual simplicity with haptic refinement.
Throughout the project—from public lobbies to private offices—the handle acts as a subtle accent. It underscores the firm’s commitment to coherence at every scale: from urban form to tactile experience.
